University English is the main professional body consulted by funding bodies and other agencies when they wish to gauge the views of the English Subject community.
We take a lead in major initiatives to bring issues and successes relating to English Studies to these agencies and to universities in the rest of the UK. The development of these schemes and initiatives is held in close co-operation with members and learned societies, including the English Association, the Institute of English Studies, the Common English Forum, The National Association of Teachers, the National Association of Writers, as well as with the Government and professional agencies, such as AHRC and AQA. In committing itself to initiatives of active consultation, representation, public statement and knowledge exchange, UE aims at developing strategic responses that may be applied by all levels of membership and the whole English community.
