English Graduate and Assistant Curator at the International Slavery Museum, Liverpool

“Studying English Literature has been an enriching experience and opened doors I never expected. Initially, the key thing for me was the fact that I genuinely enjoyed studying literature, and this has grown throughout my studies. I now focus on exploring how contemporary literature can form an intervention in historical archives and how prose and poetry can be deployed as tools to centre and imagine marginalised, unheard, and erased voices and stories. Learning how to analyse texts helped me develop my ability to think critically and creatively and equipped me with transferrable skills that I now use in my role as an Assistant Curator at the International Slavery Museum in Liverpool. For example, I draw on these skills to interpret historical objects and works of art as I put forward new ways for visitors to understand them based on the narrative interpretation I create.”
