Online Event: Victorian Rights: Victorian Wrongs

We tend to think of the Victorian period in terms of its many ‘wrongs’ – sexual repression, harsh labour conditions, poverty, and empire.  Yet the Victorian period was also a time of increasing economic, political and social ‘rights’.

In a series of podcasts exploring the Chartists, the Suffragettes, Victorian feminism and environmentalism, second-year students at the University of Manchester consider the key role played by literature in the struggles for democratic, economic, and social rights in Victorian Britain.
